  Popular show host, Gbadewonuola Olateju Oyelakin known as Teju Baby Face has declared that all the years he spent as a stand up comedian was nothing but a waste of time. Teju who was into the business of cracking jokes for over 10 years declared that his calling had never been stand up comedy but rather mentoring, teaching and his television programme, “The Teju Baby Show” has given him the opportunity to fulfill his life calling. Teju speaking at his “Teju Baby face Academy”, said; “people can work hard and still leave in penury, advising everyone to work smart and find what they can do effortlessly, but in excellence, so that they can add value, because it is only when you add value that you will get wealth easily. “To say the truth, all the years I spent doing stand up comedy were nothing but a waste of time. It was later I found out my calling is in mentorship and teaching. That is why I am doing this now.”

Ghana has banned bleaching creams in the country. This was made public by the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Mrs Mimi Darko on Wednesday while appearing before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC). Darko revealed that the ban commenced since last year as it also stopped registering body creams with bleaching agents. Adom News reported that while answering questions posed by the Chairman of the PAC, Mr James Avedzi, on what the FDA was doing about bleaching creams, Mrs Darko said the FDA was currently engaging in sensitisation programmes to educate market women and other groups on the negative effects of bleaching.

A meeting between the Nigerian government and university lecturers has ended without a resolution of the nationwide strike called by the union on Monday. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, began a nationwide strike this week, over demands for improved funding of universities and welfare of lecturers. An earlier meeting with the government was also unsuccessful. Thursday’s meeting began at exactly 3:42 p.m. in Abuja. In his opening remark, the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, said ASUU did not follow the proper procedure before starting the strike. “There must be a mandatory letter of 15 days to labour, to education before going on strike,” he said, referring to the ministries of labour and education. “All agreements are supposed to be domiciled in ministry of labour in order to track implementation as agreement gives room to renegotiation,” Mr. Ngige. In his response, the president of ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi, said Mr. Ngige had taken side with his education

A 22-year-old 400 level student of the University of Lagos identified as Oluwaseyi Anyiam, has been dragged before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly defiling a fellow student. Anyiam is studying Actuarial Sciences and lives at Ogundare Street in Aguda, Surulere, Lagos. The police officer in charge of the matter, Inspector Simeon Imhonwa, told the court earlier that the accused committed the offence at Alaogomeji area of Ebute-Meta, Lagos on August 3 around 2pm. He explained, “The accused had forceful carnal knowledge of the victim, without her consent. “The accused had earlier invited the victim to an eatery at Alaogomeji, but on getting there, he told her that he forgot something at his house and they should both go to pick it. “When they got to the house, they met some of Anyiam’s friends at home playing loud music; so, they excused themselves and went into the room.” The prosecutor said that the accused offered the victim a drink wh

18-year-old Cynthia Ali, who made nine distinctions in her West African Examinations Council (WAEC) test has been awarded a full scholarship by the Enugu state government. The indigene of Enugu became the best graduating student of Shalom Academy Nsukka in 2017 when she scored A1 in all the nine subjects she sat for. The scholarship would cater to her full tuition up to the first-degree level in any Nigerian university and she will also be awarded a certificate of honour in recognition of her outstanding academic performance by the state government. The award was presented before members of the state executive council (EXCO) on Thursday.
