She continued: 'I instigated it. It started as a friendship and hes building his way. He doesn’t see me as tranny, he sees me as a woman and we have such a good laugh and we click.'
Lauren underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2002 and admitted that at first she was fearful of finding love as she considered herself to be 'vulnerable'.
Blushing as she described her 'much younger' lover, the star - who first sprang into the public eye as a precocious 12-year-old antiques expert called James on the Antiques Roadshow - revealed she felt happy and comfortable with her new man.
Aspiring actor Connor - who identifies as pansexual - explained: 'Me and Lauren was speaking for quite a while. She has not gone through all this change for nothing, to not be treated like a woman.'
Revealing that it hasn't all been plain sailing, he added: 'We've had a lots of  negative comments but we live in our own bubble. We live each day as it comes.'
Recently the pair were approached whilst they enjoyed a date in their local park, with Lauren revealing they had wood chips thrown at them, whilst a child approached them to ask if she was a 'tranny or a man'.
Yet Connor explained his family were on side, as he revealed: 'My mum and my grandma are very supportive... When I went to stay at Lauren's I was having a good time. I was learning from Lauren.'
Explaining that he's been targeted due to their romance, he said: 'I have lots of people calling me gay. I'm pansexual so I'm attracted to person.'
As Lauren reasoned: 'We have the same sense of humour and we have chemistry,' he added: 'Whatever makes you happy go for it.'
